Good Morning, Internet

Featuring “Silver Dragon,” by Reaper Miniatures

Hello, and welcome. If you’re reading this, either you’re on the ground floor of this new book review blog I’m spinning up or digging through archives, but this is the kick-off for the Library of Scales.

What are we doing here? Short answer is: dragons. Humanity has been telling stories about them since time immemorial, so there are plenty out there, and we keep making more. How do they all relate to one another? What are the common mythological threads, how have they evolved, and how to they continue to influence the content being created today?
And equally important, which of those dragons are awesome enough to be worth your time?

That’s what I’m looking to explore with this blog. I’ve got a vast backlog of material to work through, so that should keep us busy for a while. Used bookstores are both wonderful and terrible. But if there are any books or myths or whatnot you’d like to recommend for consideration, drop me a line and we’ll see if we can fit that in.

While dragons will be the focus of our endeavors, we probably won’t stick to them exclusively. There are plenty of other good stories within the fantasy/SF milieu that are worth consideration, and that I want to discuss.
Alongside that, I do a little writing of my own that might end up on here from time to time. There may be some dragons in there as well. Here and there. From time to time.

Either way, here’s hoping that we all enjoy the ride. Look for the first review to come up soon.
